So Cal Veterans Coalition started from a grass roots movement of veterans who were sick and tired of seeing our brothers and sisters falling into the dark abyss of depression, isolation and suicide. We have found that choosing to use holistic medicine in lieu of the “DEADLY PHARMACEUTICAL COCKTAILS” that the Veterans Administration prescribes our countries war fighters. We have also found that by supplementing holistic medication for these addictive drugs, it has greatly impacted the social aspects of these veterans everyday interactions and lives. They become more comfortable and as the side effects of the VA cocktails wained they started leaving the isolation of their homes.
It is this principle that we at Southern California Veterans Coalition has based our mission on. Our mission is to heal through communication, education and socialization through the aid of brother/sisterhoodhood. We offer a cannabis friendly monthly meeting, where we find a safe location (safe not only in the eyes of the law but a safe location for all veterans to feel safe and comfortable with) offer educational speakers ranging from holistic care information, veteran rights, support programs and groups that offer Veteran support services.

Veterans suffer from high rates of chronic pain, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to a recent Veterans Administration study, an average of 20 veterans die each day from suicide, a rate that is 21 percent higher than the civilian population.
“The tragedy of 20 veterans a day dying from suicide is a national scandal,” said McCain. “Combatting this epidemic will require the best research and understanding about the key causes of veteran suicide, including whether overmedication of drugs, such as opioid painkillers, is a contributing factor in suicide-related deaths.”

Memory extinction occurs naturally, organically in the average population. Those who have experienced trauma however, often have impairment to their natural memory extinction ability. Medical cannabis has shown to support the body’s endogenous memory extinction abilities, reducing the ability of traumatic memories to trigger the sympathetic response of fight or flight.the current, standard treatment for pain related to injury or psycho-biological pain related to PTSD include opioid-based pharmaceuticals. Side effects of these opioids can be devastating, with addiction chief among them.
Recently, cannabis has been touted not only as a treatment for PTSD but also as a withdrawal aid for those addicted to opioids.
According to different studies, anecdotal evidence, and testimonials, cannabis and CBD provide significant relief to many of the most common PTSD symptoms. According to a study by Frontiers in Pharmacology, it suggests that CBD is an effective treatment option for PTSD. Additionally, CBD provides both acute and long-lasting effects to reduce fear and memory. These findings provide extra support for the potential use of CBD to treat PTSD; explaining the link between CBD and PTSD.
On a similar note, it’s clear that cannabis and CBD provide powerful medical properties. PTSD patients feel effects regarding anxiety, night terrors/nightmares, painful memories, flashbacks, and overall discomfort. PTSD symptoms vary from person to person. However, collectively, according to a National institute of Heath studies, it was found that CBD significantly reduces anxiety, cognitive impairment, and discomfort that’s associated with PTSD. antispasmodic qualities which relax muscles and has shown to be an effective treatment for seizures. cannabidol (CBD), are the preferred method for treatment.
Social support is exceptionally important for maintaining good physical and mental health. Overall, it appears that positive social support of high quality can enhance resilience to stress, help protect against developing trauma-related psychopathology, decrease the functional consequences of trauma-induced disorders, such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and reduce medical morbidity and mortality
