About Us

HEALING THROUGH COMMUNICATION, EDUCATION, AND SOCIALIZATION THROUGH THE AID OF BROTHERHOOD

So Cal Veterans Coalition started from a grass roots movement of veterans who were sick and tired of seeing our brothers and sisters falling into the dark abyss of depression, isolation and suicide. We have found that choosing to use holistic medicine in lieu of the “DEADLY PHARMACEUTICAL COCKTAILS” that the Veterans Administration prescribes our countries war fighters. We have also found that by supplementing holistic medication for these addictive drugs, it has greatly impacted the social aspects of these veterans everyday interactions and lives. They become more comfortable and as the side effects of the VA cocktails wained they started leaving the isolation of their homes.
It is this principle that we at Southern California Veterans Coalition has based our mission on. Our mission is to heal through communication, education and socialization through the aid of brother/sisterhoodhood. We offer a cannabis friendly monthly meeting, where we find a safe location (safe not only in the eyes of the law but a safe location for all veterans to feel safe and comfortable with) offer educational speakers ranging from holistic care information, veteran rights, support programs and groups that offer Veteran support services.

Veteran Suicide

Veterans suffer from high rates of chronic pain, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). According to a recent Veterans Administration study, an average of 20 veterans die each day from suicide, a rate that is 21 percent higher than the civilian population.

“The tragedy of 20 veterans a day dying from suicide is a national scandal,” said McCain. “Combatting this epidemic will require the best research and understanding about the key causes of veteran suicide, including whether overmedication of drugs, such as opioid painkillers, is a contributing factor in suicide-related deaths.”

According to different studies, anecdotal evidence, and testimonials, cannabis and CBD provide significant relief to many of the most common PTSD symptoms. Additionally, CBD provides both acute and long-lasting effects to reduce fear and memory. These findings provide extra support for the potential use of CBD to treat PTSD; explaining the link between CBD and PTSD.

On a similar note, it’s clear that cannabis and CBD provide powerful medical properties. PTSD patients feel effects regarding anxiety, night terrors/nightmares, painful memories, flashbacks, and overall discomfort. PTSD symptoms vary from person to person.
